City of Murder: Manhattan Beach
LA Sheriff Department
Detective: Joseph Manfrey – 323-890-5559
The man shot early New Years’ Day in Manhattan Beach has been identified as Andrei Gianan, 24, of Torrance. Gianan died January 4 from a gunshot to the head,” according to Lt. Omar Camacho, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Department Homicide Department is investigating the death.
Manhattan Beach Police found Gianan lying the street in the 1400 block of 11th Street after responding to reports of a car crash at about 1:23 a.m. on January 1. He was taken to Harbor UCLA Medical Center, where doctors had little hope of being able to save him, according to a GoFundMe page established in his memory.
“We don’t know if he was a body dump or he was shot elsewhere and stumbled onto the street and collapsed,” Lt. Camacho said. “There is no known motive at this time,” he added “This is not believed to be a random attack,” Manhattan Beach Police said in a press release.
Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Or MBPD Detective Seth Hartnell at (310) 802-5127.
