Rita Theresa Apodaca

Updated: Mar 28

Witnesses have told detectives they saw the 24-year-old woman dragged off a street near midnight in eastern Long Beach.

The people who took her forcibly put her in the car. She did not willingly get into the car.

Detectives do not know where Apodaca was killed, but said she died between midnight and 3 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 1992. At least two witnesses saw a car leaving the maintenance yard before 3 a.m.

Dressed in red shorts, a blue t-shirt and tennis shoes, Apodaca’s body was found about 10:30 a.m. by a Carson city worker. She had not been sexually assaulted, Detective Edmundson said.

Anyone with information about Apodaca’s slaying is asked to call Detective Edmundson at (213) 974-4341.
