Miguel Perez, a 40-year-old Latino, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 after he was shot near East Young Street and Dominguez Avenue in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. Shortly before midnight, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Harbor Division responded to a call of a shooting in the area and found Perez, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, said Los Angeles police Det. Scott Coffee. Police are trying to determine what Perez was doing in the moments leading up to the shooting. It’s unclear if he was in the area alone or with others. “No witnesses heard anything other than some shots,” Coffee said. Two men shot and killed in a drive-by shooting were identified by the coroner’s office Tuesday as 24-year-old Gabriel Castillo and 27- year-old Carlos Regalado Jr., both of Wilmington. The shooting near the intersection of Watson Road and East Pacific Coast Highway in Wilmington was reported at 9:12 p.m. Monday, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Karen Rayner said. “Three people were walking down the street when they were shot by someone in a car,” Rayner said. “Two people died at the scene and paramedics transported a third person to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.” The surviving victim was last reported in stable condition, said Sgt. Richard Gabaldon, watch commander at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Harbor Station. “The suspects in the shooting were described as two young male Hispanics, driving a white, four-door, compact sport utility-type vehicle,” Gabaldon said. “But that’s all we have so far.” Police were investigating the shooting as gang-related, Gabaldon said. Emergency responders received reports of multiple gunshot victims in the 800 block of North Lagoon Avenue in Wilmington shortly after 2 p.m., said Officer Tony Im, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department. Justice Jasay Jatem Sanchez, a 19-year-old Latino female, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022 at 831 N. Lagoon Ave., according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records. There was no immediate information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or a description of a suspect.

On June 27, 2019, at about 9:30 pm, LAPD officers Llewellyn and Wilhelm responded to a radio call of “Possible Attempted Suicide” at the home of Mark Slotkin, father of the deceased. According to the police investigation report, Mark Slotkin called 911 and reported that his 25-year-old daughter, Nicollette Abbey Slotkin, had locked herself in a room and he heard a gunshot. The coroner has ruled this death as a suicide, but her mother, and others do not believe it was a suicide. They believe it is a homicide.
